Participation in Medicare’s Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS), formerly known as PQRI, will become mandatory in 2015. If you are not participating in PQRS in 2015, your Medicare reimbursements may be decreased.
Medicare has released an updated version of the ABN (Advance Beneficiary Notice). Use of any other form after January 1, 2012 will render the Advanced Beneficiary Notice invalid.
Although the new form appears essentially the same as the 2008 form, the formatting is slightly altered and the effective date at the bottom is (03/11). The revised instructions have more explicit information on the provider’s obligation to bill Medicare based on the selection of available option.
