Have you received your Comparative Billing Report (CBR)?
Several FCA members have recently reported to the FCA’s Help Desk that they received a CBR from Medicare. The CBR, Comparative Billing Report, identifies that provider’s Medicare activity based on bills submitted in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
CMS has approved the updated ABN form with an expiration date of 6/30/2023. The deadline date for use of this updated form, originally mandated by August 31, 2020, has been extended to 10/14/2021 due to the pandemic. The renewed form may be implemented prior to the mandatory deadline. Read on for links to the form, instructions and important clarifications.
The 2021 Florida Medicare Fee Schedules as of 1/4/2021 are available. Each of the 3 payable chiropractic codes in each of Florida’s 3 regions have three possible allowable fees: Par allowable, NonPar allowable and NonPar limiting fee. These 9 fees are explained in the downloadable document linked below.

The 2020 Florida Medicare Fee Schedules as of 1/7/2020 are available.
Clarification has been received from the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration regarding the availability of HIE (Health Information Exchange) for chiropractic physicians who are reporting (QPP) Quality Performance Data in MIPS (Merit-based Incentive Payment System) or APMs (Advanced Alternative Payment Models) The Florida HIE’s provides an alerting service to which accountable care organizations, health plans, hospitals and providers subscribe to receive notifications of patient’s health care encounters. Subscribing providers are limited to prescribing practitioners which would not include D.C.s. Let me know if you have any follow up questions.

Current ABN for Medicare: Effective as of June 21, 2017
The Advance Beneficiary Notice of Noncoverage (ABN), Form CMS-R-131 and form instructions were last approved by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for renewal, effective June 21, 2017.
Are you using the most current version of the ABN form? Are you completing it correctly?
The ABN is null and void if incorrectly or improperly completed and utilized.
March 2017: The ABN, Form CMS-R-131, and form instructions have been approved by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for renewal. While there are no changes to the form itself, providers should take note of the newly incorporated expiration date on the form. With the 2016 PRA submission, a non-substantive change has been made to the ABN. In accordance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (Section 504), the form has been revised to include language informing beneficiaries of their rights to CMS nondiscrimination practices and how to request the ABN in an alternative format if needed. The effective date for use of this ABN form is 6/21/2017. Read more to download the form.
