We have recently been alerted to a reimbursement glitch in Medicaid resulting in chiropractors being denied for services they are due. This problem was supposedly corrected on October 7th of this year.

FCSO J9 transition information

Effective March 1, 2009, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will require providers to supply their NPI, PTAN, and the last five digits of their TIN when accessing the interactive voice response (IVR) system or talking with a customer service representative (CSR). The goal of this additional authentication measure is to better safeguard providers’ information regarding claims status, beneficiary eligibility, and other provider-related questions.

Stricter Medicare Enrollment Process effective April 1, 2009

Beginning April 1, 2009, Medicare is implementing stricter enrollment policies.

Beware of Scam Targeting Physician Offices

(from a CMS Notice dated June 18, 2009) - The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has become aware of a scam where perpetrators are sending faxes to physician offices posing as the Medicare carrier or Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC).  The fax instructs physician staff to respond to a questionnaire to provide an account information update within 48 hours in order to prevent a gap in Medicare payments.  The fax may have the CMS logo and/or the contractor logo to enhance the appearance of authenticity.
