The FCA has been contacted about an alleged marketing scam in the Sarasota area. An FCA member reports that someone contacted his office offering to market and conduct screenings at different events and gyms and to make appointments for interested individuals to come in to the doctor’s office for an initial exam and workup. The marketer is said to have informed the doctor that he signs a certain number of individuals at each event. The cost of the marketing plan – approximately $1500.00 for 9 events. It has been reported that doctors in the Sarasota area have paid the marketer and that the marketer has not booked or completed the events.
