ACBN Offers New Method to Achieve the 300 Class Hours Toward Diplomate in NutritionStarting with FCA Winter Convention 2006: You Can Accrue Class Hours Toward a Diplomate in Nutrition (DACBN)
“The American Clinical Board of Nutrition (ACBN) has recently attained the singular distinction of receiving full accreditation by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA). NCCA is a federally (USA) recognized, national accreditation agency. The ACBN is the first and currently only certifying agency in nutrition beyond the doctorate level to have attained this achievement.” (www.acbn.org)
The FCA recently learned that ACBN now allows those with a doctoral degree in a health related field (DC, DDS, DO, DOM, MD, Ph.D.) to accrue 300 hours toward qualifying for Diplomate status at a range of courses that are offered through accredited institutions. No longer do you have to complete a long-running 300-hour course that is designated specifically for Nutrition Diplomate Certification, requiring you to travel to a college campus or other specified location over several years of time.
Through cooperation with the Division of Complementary Medicine of the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, several classes at the upcoming FCA Winter Convention 2006 and the FCA conventions in 2007 are approved to accrue toward the 300-hour class requirement. Your FCA convention attendance will now have added value: You can pick up hours toward a Diplomate in Nutrition while fulfilling your license renewal CE requirements. The only additional cost is $20 per convention to cover the University’s fee for a transcript of your Nutrition Diplomate hours.
Please see the links below. You can order resource materials about the Nutrition Diplomate directly from ACBN and download the appropriate forms to have your class hours in the approved FCA Convention classes tracked and reported by the University. (Forms for FCA Winter Convention are also enclosed.) Take advantage of this convenient opportunity to complete your Nutrition Diplomate class requirements at FCA conventions.
To take advantage of approved offerings at the upcoming FCA Winter Convention 2006, December 1-3 at the Hyatt Bonaventure Resort in Weston, simply fill out the enclosed special Nutrition Diplomate forms for both the University of Miami and the FCA and return them with your Winter Convention pre-registration form to the FCA Orlando address. Include an extra $20 in your convention registration check, made payable to FCA, to cover the transcript fees. Then, simply attend the classes you have selected on your form and follow the sign-in and sign-out requirements for Nutrition Diplomate class attendance, in addition to visiting the FCA attendance desk for your license renewal CE tracking.
