World Spine Day 2019: Get Spine Active

Today, October 16 marks World Spine Day (WSD). The theme for 2019 is Get Spine Active! Each year the focus of WSD is raising awareness of back pain and other spinal issues. With health professionals, exercise and rehabilitation experts, public health advocates and patients all taking part, #GetSpineActive will be celebrated on every continent.

Being active can take many forms, not simple doing sport and exercise. Getting Spine Active can range from taking regular breaks at work to aquarobics for the elderly to doing the Straighten Up exercise routine. Everyone, regardless of age or ability can Get Spine Active.

Spread awareness with tools and resources for social media, your waiting room and more from the WSD toolkit.

Bone and Joint Awareness Week
Wednesday, 16 October 2019
This week marks the annual Bone and Joint Action Week, dedicating specific days to major conditions affecting the musculoskeletal system. Activities are planned in countries around the world aimed at highlighting the significant impact of these disorders on millions of children, adults and elderly people worldwide. Focus days include:

October 12: World Arthritis Day
October 16: World Spine Day
October 17: World Trauma Day
October 19: World Pediatric Bone & Joint Day
October 20: World Osteoporosis Day

Record Student Impact for Chiropractic Day at the Capitol

Student leaders from all three of Florida’s chiropractic colleges made the trip to Tallahassee for the FCA’s pre-2020 Session Chiropractic Day at the Capitol on Tuesday, October 15, setting a record for student participation at 45 attendees.  They joined with a large contingent of FCA member DC’s to call on legislators, making a positive impression for chiropractic and shining a light on issues important to the profession.

PIP/No-Fault Auto Insurance Repeal Filed in Senate – Again

Thursday, September 26, 2019, Tallahassee – Legislation proposing to repeal Florida’s decades-old PIP/No-fault auto insurance coverage requirement was formally filed yesterday by Sen. Tom Lee (R-Brandon). Lee is no stranger to the issue, having filed similar measures during each of the Legislature’s three past sessions since 2017.

They’re Back: State Lawmakers Prep for 2020 Session

Tallahassee, Friday, September 20, 2019 – State lawmakers returned to the capitol this week following their summer break to begin committee work in preparation for their 2020 Session slated to kick off in January. A constitutional amendment approved by voters in 2018 officially moved the start date of sessions in even-numbered years to an earlier January-February timeframe instead of their traditional March-April meeting dates.
