Budget Deal Finally Emerges
Monday, 01 May 2017
Tallahassee – State lawmakers finally reached preliminary agreement late last week – the next to the last week of their 2017 regular session – on the broad outline of a state government spending plan for the next fiscal year. Now the race is on to hammer out the details before Tuesday of this week, the date the final budget must be placed on members’ desks to meet the required 72-hour “cooling-off” period before a final vote can occur on this Friday, the last scheduled day of their annual 60-day session. On-time adjournment is once again a possibility.
