The Skinny On Payment of Insurance Claims

It is often difficult, if not next to impossible, to traverse Florida laws on all times relevant for submitting, receiving, contesting, and payment of insurance claims.  Florida’s Department of Financial Services (DFS), Office of Consumer Affairs, has helped some in this regard by summarizing part of the payment of claims statute on their website, of which I have incorporated into this article along with other provisions that are not on the website.  Should the need arise, this is also where you go to file an Insurance Complaint.  Remember, in filing an appeal to a claim for overpayment or a denial, there are time limitations involved.

Friday, January 31, 2020, Tallahassee – Lawmakers in Tallahassee this week began their preliminary work on assembling a FY 2020-21 budget for Florida government, with the earliest versions unveiled starting on Tuesday. Agreeing on a balanced budget is the only task the House and Senate is mandated to complete each year during their 60-day annual session.

Lawmakers Get to Work, No-Fault/PIP Repeal Considered

Friday, January 24, 2020, Tallahassee – State lawmakers spent the second week of their nine-week regular session focusing primarily on committee work on individual member bills together with hearing individual appropriation requests. On Thursday, the Senate Committee on Appropriations heard a presentation by the Governor’s staff detailing his budget recommendations for FY 2020-21. Developing a plan to fund state government is the only constitutionally mandated task legislators are charged with completing each year.
