FCA Members Convene for Chiropractic Day at the Capitol

80 FCA members, including a student contingent of 12 from Palmer Florida, gathered Tuesday morning to meet with Florida legislators about issues of importance to chiropractic.  They met with the FCA lobby team for a breakfast update on current issues and boarded a bus to the Capitol for individual meetings with their constituent legislators throughout the day. A lunch on the 22nd floor of the Capitol featured greetings from legislators and more legislators greeted DCs and students in an afternoon meeting, held in the Senate chamber.

New Report Finds Majority of U.S. Adults Likely to Visit a Chiropractic Physician

First-ever nationally representative survey finds chiropractic use higher than previous estimates
 
(From an ACA Release of September 8, 2015) Arlington, Va. - According to a new Gallup-Palmer report that tested public assumptions about chiropractic care, 57 percent of U.S. adults are likely to visit a doctor of chiropractic (DC) if they experience back or neck pain. This first-ever nationally representative survey, commissioned by Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, found that 33.6 million Americans (14%) sought chiropractic care in 2014, compared to a previously reported estimate of 20.6 million (8%) in 2012.

Spine Study Recommends Manipulation Over Medical Care for LBP

(From the ACA Connects of July 29, 2015) ACA's newest infographic features the results of a 2015 Spine study, led by Dr. Michael Schneider, demonstrating that manual-thrust manipulation led to greater short-term reductions in pain and disability than medical care. The study found that 94 percent of low back pain sufferers had a 30 percent reduction in pain at week 4 when using manual-thrust manipulation, performed by chiropractic physicians, while only 56 percent of those using medical care (OTCs, NSAIDs & physical activity) had a 30 percent reduction in pain at week 4.

New Chiropractic Internist Diplomate Program Debuts at The National

DC’s registered for National Convention 2015 have access to attend a 12-hour module of the Chiropractic Internist Diplomate Program (DABCI) being offered on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with no additional fee. What a great way to learn more about the diplomate program, earn a few credits toward a DABCI, and polish your diagnostic skills, by attending this module on “Introduction to Chiropractic Internal Disorders & Functional  Medicine.” To take advantage of this option, check the box indicating your planned attendance of the DABCI module on your printed pre-registration form or in the online pre-registration process. While DC’s registered for the convention can attend individual classes, pre-registration selection of this DABCI option is recommended if you plan to attend the 12-hour module, as class seating is limited to 200.
